Ginger herb is very helpful to get rid of cold. Chop a 3-inch piece of fresh ginger.

Add 2 tablespoons of honey, ½ cup of lemon juice and 2 cups of boiling water.

Stir well and then cover it for about 10 minutes.

Strain the solution and drink.

We can also add cinnamon to this drink. Cinnamon acts as an antiseptic that helps to kill the cold virus. It also soothes a sore throat and promotes sweating to clear the cold.

Turmeric and Milk

A combination of milk and turmeric is helpful if you are suffering from a cough. The mixture of these will be beneficial for both young and old age people.

Warm Water

Warm water also helps when you have a cold and cough. It also decreases the inflammation in the throat.

Garlic

Take a few cloves of Garlic and consume it with ghee (butter). It may taste bitter but it helps you to fight with common cold and cough.

Honey-Onion

You can make Syrup of honey and onion. This will help you to get relief from a cough. Honey is best to heal a sore throat and onion has antibacterial and anti-inflammatories properties.

Steam

You can take steam of hot water it will also give you relief in cold and cough.

Gargling with salt water

Gargling with salt water is also helpful in cold and cough. It will clear mucus from your throat. Be careful if you are applying this to your kids. Your kids should be enough old to learn gargle.
